Studying the Effects of Local Plant Extracts on Bacterial Growth
A practical investigation This project tested whether common plant extracts found in the local environment could inhibit bacterial growth, connecting classroom microbiology knowledge with hands-on experimental design. The study followed standard lab protocols: preparing agar plates, controlling variables, and measuring zones of inhibition. Results showed that several extracts had measurable antibacterial activity. Future work will refine extraction methods and expand testing to additional bacterial strains observed in common infections.
